Basket hunt

Jonas was stylin' at Easter thanks to our former neighbor, Mike, who knitted him an adorable hat and vest set. Jonas also got a preview of possible things-to-come when he took in some sunshine with Mike's chickens, Heather and Buffy.

The Easter bunny hid Jonas's basket in Green Bay along with the rest of the Tangen clan's. Jonas walked through the house to find it, but it ended up that it was faster going backwards!

Jonas enjoys his jingle ball, bunny, and bibs, which he tries to devour before his dinner arrives.
The Tangens wore Jonas out and he slept most of the way home.

Easter bunny comes a day early

Grandma Sue stopped by on Saturday to drop off a rolling toy that is supposed to help Jonas get more mobile. So far, the mobility is being provided by loving adults as Jonas likes to lay across the top of it and be rocked back and forth. Sort of like baby Pilates. As with everything else, he tries to put the toy in his mouth. I hate to tell him, but I don't think it will fit.

Walking Around at the Museum

Spring Break '08...What to do when it's 30 degrees out

Happy Weekend

It was another fine weekend under Jonas's belt. He got a chance to hang out at the coffee shop with his friends. Henry was trying to escape to get to pick out some more bakery items to munch on, while Jonas and Bryn patiently waited for a formal picture. Smilin' Bryn is about 2 years 2 months older than the young Jonas. She used to wear the sweet strawberry cap that Jonas is wearing.

After some coffee in the morning Jonas snuck one in on his mom at the Wheeler's house when mom was being less than her normal perfect parent.

Jonas got some GMa Sue time in on Sunday. He showed off his new sundial recreation moves on the floor. He also got a chance to grab Zippy the cat's tail when the opportunity arose.

Multiple visits holds up the movie

Jonas started the day off with several visitors that could not be pictured because they were playing hookie from their work during their lunch break to watch the Badgers play in the Big Ten tournament. Jonas got back to work on his movie, but had another surprise guest bring him yet another wonderful present. Midge Miller, who lived in our house for many years, stopped by to say hi to everyone and brought Jonas a fluffy bunny. Jonas loves to squeeze the bunny.

Mom plays Hoops

Jonas got a chance to see how some real good basketball is played. He stepped into a packed Cherokee Middle School Gym to see mom and her teammates play against the students they teach. It was a pretty close game and nobody got hurt. Jonas was watching mom bring the ball up the court and hustle back on defense. After the game Jonas got a chance to get his mom's autograph, which she gladly gave him with kisses on the face instead of ink on paper.

Livin it up with a visit from Frida Kahlo

Jonas was preparing to film one of the final scenes for "Jonas the Six Month Jedi" when he was once again interupted by a celebrity visit. This has been the major reason for delays in the final cut. Everytime a celebrity shows up they want to grab their fellow celeb Jonas, talk silly to him, swing him around, and cuddle him to no end. The latest visit was from Frida Kahlo, as you can see, Jonas was hamming it up and showing his typical hollywood disregard to actually getting the movie done on time. That's show-business.

Central Incisor Breakthrough....Let there be tooth

Little did we know that the first wearing of the "Chomp" shirt would be taken so literally by Jonas. He decided to cut his first tooth today, displaying a mammelon edge of the lower right central incisor. The breakthrough occured between 11:45 am and 1:15 pm on 3/10/2008. It was quite exciting to put my knuckle in his mouth a little after 1:15 pm and realize that Jonas is now armed with a cutting tool embedded in his gums. It is visible under the right conditions, most of which demands Jonas to keep his tongue out of the way. This is difficult, so we haven't been able to capture the perfect photo, but we will. For anyone that is interested there is a little information about Jonas first tooth below from Wikipedia.

Jonas's first tooth, the Primary Mandibular Central Incisor

The mandibular central incisor is the tooth located on the jaw, adjacent to the midline of the face. It is mesial from both mandibular lateral incisors. As with all incisors, its function include shearing or cutting food during mastication. There are no cusps on the tooth. Instead, the surface area of the tooth used in eating is called an incisal ridge or incisal edge. Though the two are similar, there are some minor differences between the deciduous mandibular central incisor and that of the permanent mandibular central incisor.

Mammelons are usually found as three small bumps on the incisal edges of anterior teeth. They are the remnants of three lobes of formation of these teeth, the fourth lobe represented by the cingulum. Since this surface of the tooth is the first to wear away from attrition, mammelons may not visible on teeth of older people. Instead, the best chance to see this characteristic is soon after eruption of the tooth into the mouth.

Hoop it up!

Jonas got a chance to talk to Bruce the Mascot. Jonas did not seem to notice that Bruce has an unusually large head. He took it all in stride. During the Spartans' warmup Jonas was checking out the upperdeck to see if any of his friends were at the game. I asked him if there was anyone he knew, but he didn't answer.

A nice family shot about 20 minutes before the game got underway. You can see how big Jonas is in this picture. It is hard to believe that his mom had him in her womb just six months ago. (It really is crazy when you look at the picture of Mom and Jonas standing next to each other.)

Towards the end of the game Jonas pretended he was a pufferfish swimming around in the water. He often does this where he will hold his breath and puff his cheeks out. Mom helped him out swishing him around a bit to make him feel like he was swimming. It was a good way for him to spend some time as he had seen enough basketball after 2 games at the Kohl Center in the last 2 days. Jonas is going to take the championship game off on Saturday since it starts at his bedtime and instead will spend some time at home relaxing in the tub before bedtime. Overall he did very well and had a wonderful sensory overload experience. Go Spartans!

Size 5 1/2 W

Jonas got his first pair of hard-soled shoes at the shoe store. He tried on almost every shoe available, but there was only one that caught his eye and fit his feet. He decided on a pair of 5 1/2 W Shiny Tennis Shoes that he wanted to eat at the store. He has been practicing standing in his new kicks.
