State Fair #2

Link to the fullscreen slideshow

Jonas seemingly had a wonderful time at the 2009 State Fair......a bit of revisionist history perhaps. We thought he was rather crabby, but he talks about the fair like it was a complete blast-off mission to fun-town. Jonas got a chance to see the usual ungulates and hang out with Uncle Helge and some tractors. He made a decision to take on the big slide with mom instead of riding on mules. He loved walking up all of the stairs to the top of the slide (even though he created a little backup), but was in the need of some gentle persuasion by his mom to go down the slide. You can see how that turned out.

3 Birthdays in one week!

Jonas had quite the week of birthday celebrations. It was a good warm-up for his 2nd birthday coming up in less than a month. He made all the right moves....hugs, kisses, dances, candles, wishes, presents, etc., so we feel pretty good about him enjoying his family birthday party next month.

Children's Museum on a Sort of Rainy morning

Jonas met some of his pals at the children's museum. As usual they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There has been a lot of birthday activity in the last week or so and Jonas is working on putting together a birthday compilation on his next post.

J Tumble

Jonas has been tumbling before and after naps. Sometimes for hours. We weren't able to capture any super high-flying moves as we started filming after most of the adventure had taken place. We'll try to capture the nightly headstands and the full speed somersaults as they occur, but usually we are laughing to hard to quickly find the camera and capture the action. Enjoy the circus.

A weekend in the life...

Here's Jonas "cleaning the house", going through failed superman training, and enjoying himself at a dog party.

Grandma broke the TV

Following the last day of school, Travis and I usually go out to eat at one of our favorite Madison restaurants, Eldorado Grill. Grandma Sue was gracious enough to come and watch Jonas for the evening so that we could go out and have a little adult summer kick off. She even brought Jonas some ladybug window clings (note the post-nap bed head).

When we got home she told us that she had tried to turn some music on via Sirius radio on the tv, but it wasn't working. I had to break it to her that it was already broken. The sound hasn't worked in about a year, which doesn't bother us since we never really watch TV anyway.

Last night at dinner Jonas remembered the TV looming behind his head and told us the story of how it all happened. This is all the more funny because I don't think he's ever seen the TV on. You'd think by his insistence that the little goof watches TV on a daily basis or something. Nonetheless, we got a good toddler story and a good video out of the whole escapade.

Kroegers visit!

We were lucky this past weekend to have Sho, Dominick, and Granny Sharon visit. The weather could have been a bit better, but we all managed to get to the Farmer's Market, State Street, the Memorial Union, EVP, and a few restaurants. Dominick and Jonas had a blast playing together and running around. The boys must have run fifteen laps in a row around the living room and kitchen loop before collapsing. They also kept each other "in line" by making sure whatever their parents expected was repeated in a toddler version. Jonas now keeps asking for "Dom" and we hope to see them again soon!

Dancing as only toddlers can...

Time to relax and read a book!

Not good

So, remember a few weeks back Jonas ate some blue playdough while I was at a wine tasting? Well, Travis is gone tonight and Jonas is doing great. The dogs, however, just ate a nest full of baby bunnies leaving some carnage behind. I guess each "kid" has to test their parents now and again. You can thank me in person for not posting a video like Travis did of Jonas's blue face.

Here's a cute picture of Jonas instead.
