Crawler Celebration

Jonas has been crawling for a bit of time now, but we have not formally celebrated the occasion. Of all the perfect things in the world to celebrate a baby crawling around none is more perfect than the doughy edible "crawler". We made a special trip down to the local Greenbush Bakery and selected a couple of premo crawlers from the donut gallery. Needless to say Jonas took a quick likening to the taste of the mighty crawler. It was his first "junk-food" he has taken part in and by his reaction when the crawler was taken away it was obvious he had a found a new love.

Caged beasts

What an action-packed week! First, the hounds got some fenced-in playtime at the dog park.

Then, Jonas enjoyed a little bit of time at the zoo until it started raining...

Lastly, Jonas and Cory became caged beasts themselves to keep them away from the potential peril of the stairs.

Sunshine state gift

Jonas received a surprise gift from Florida in the mail yesterday. While vacationing, his grandparents couldn't forget the little guy and sent him some sweet cabana wear. The tag says 4T, which means he should fit into his outfit next summer, the little weed!

Pa' Day...Best Ever

Jonas treated his Pa to the best Father's Day ever. It still feels a bit crazy being a father, but Jonas is getting me used to it. Jonas showered his dad with gifts that included new shorts, pants, adult beverages, and a beautiful photo album. After the special baked strawberry french-toast breakfast the family biked down to the Union for some ice cream.

The water on the lake was as high as we've seen it due to all the recent rain. The spot where Jonas usually sits to watch the birds was completely under water. It was a windy day and Jonas pretended he was a bird and did some ground flying on the grass.(video below) Jonas was tired and passed out in the bike seat on the way home. It is quite hilarious looking to see a sleeping baby riding on the handlebars of your bike.

At home Jonas shared some of his cookie with his Dad as a special treat. It was delicious, especially the slimy coating covering the entire cookie. After dinner we all went for a walk up to the prairie in the park behind Jonas's house. Jonas did eventually go to sleep for the night. Dad could finally enjoy some of the wonderful gifts Jonas gave him. Mom and Dad reviewed the day under the stars in the presence of a glowing fire with a few glasses of the Herradura that Jonas gave his Dad.

Anti-Fruit Bye-Bye

Jonas has primarily been eating vegetables for a while now, and loving them, but recently he started to show some aversion to his green beans. We figured he would like some blended fruit.......but it was not love at first bite. As soon as the fruit hit Jonas's tongue it received the classic food rejection, it was spit it out and out came the sour-puss face. Jonas now likes to eat fruit, but the first few times were solidly rejected by his palate. Jonas throws a little bye-bye wave in at the end, which he still refuses to do publicly. I guess the bye-bye wave is reserved for private performances only.

Baby geese update

Jonas has been tracking a gaggle of baby geese everytime he takes a bike ride down to Memorial Union. This was his 5th baby goose spotting and he got a chance to see how much they have grown. It has been about three weeks since we last spotted the little goosers and my have they grown. When we arrived back home Jonas was so hot from the bike ride that he needed to strip off his shirt. He didn't have to put it back on until his mom got home from work.
