Let's Get Ready to Watch some hoops

Max and Jonas had an interesting way to get ready for the opening tip of the Memorial Boys basketball game. From our vantage point it looked as if Max and Jonas were the only 2 in the gym undergoing the massage ritual. The boys ate popcorn and grapes and enjoyed an ugly overtime victory.

Chase, Read, Jump, etc on the Big Boy Bed

The second to last morning of a crib-wakeup.

Jonas started sleeping in his big boy bed a few weeks ago. He has been doing pretty well on the transition from the crib. He enjoys everything about his new bed, the fact that the whole family can fit in it at once, the ability to jump and dive on it, making tunnels, and of course sleeping. The chasing and running seem to go on without any loss of energy, a sort of perpetual motion machine. Jonas and Cory started wrestling a while ago, I guess the bed is just a natural wrestling ring.

Disturbing Story Time

The Journey, part I

Jonas got a chance to explain the sex determination of his expected Springtime sibling. He follows the process of the egg and sperm combining using trains as visual aids. Jonas is working on a follow up to part I that will include the evolution of the sex chromosome over a few hundred million years and the factors that are genetically switched that actually help the fetus form into a boy or girl. Jonas has been spending a few too many nights out on the town so this has delayed the production process for part II. Stay tuned.

Fun in the Snow

Jonas got a chance to have some fun with the garbage truck driver as the snow fell. The driver did some garbage can maneuvering tricks by moving the garbage can all over the place with the hydraulic arm before he dumped it. Jonas managed to squeeze through a new tunnel in his fort, it took awhile due to the limited of mobility of being encased in 8 layers of clothes. (bamboo diaper, polyester diaper wrap, t-shirt/pants, sweatshirt, snow overalls, winter-jacket, hat/mittens, and hood.

We have had plenty of snow to have plenty of winter fun in. The only problem has been the very cold weather which makes it hard to stay outside for long periods of time. We got a chance to do some family sledding at the park above our backyard. We don't have pictures of it but we managed to fit the whole family on a donated yellow torpedo sled from our neighbors Galen and Rose. It only made it through one run when it cracked under the location of Jonas's pregnant mom. It was such a great run we kept going down the hill in spite of the broken sled. We need to invest in an upgrade before we try to fit four next year.

Christmas 2009

It has been a wonderful extended Holiday celebration. We started our first Christmas over 2 weeks ago and just finished up our celebrating a couple of hours ago. By far and away the best gifts of all were watching the smiles, hugs, kisses, and love that Jonas was able to share with everyone. Best of wishes for 2010.
